Since 1876, the University of Colorado has educated state citizens and developed state leaders. With the launch of CU South Denver in fall 2014, we continue our commitment to quality undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, K-12 museum education outreach and community services aligned with Colorado’s evolving demographics and workforce needs. • South Denver residents and business people have told us they’re seeking opportunities to advance their professional lives and careers at a convenient location. • We’re working to make a high-value CU education accessible to all Colorado residents, especially in dynamic, high-growth areas like south Denver. • We’re meeting the demands for industry-relevant programs to further enhance a sophisticated workforce. • Our priority is to create strong, mutually beneficial partnerships and programs that engage the local community, improve quality of life and fuel the state’s economy. CU South Denver Located east of I-25 along Lincoln Ave. in Parker, this signature facility is named for Dave Liniger, chairman emeritus of The Wildlife Experience and co-founder of REMAX International, Inc., and his wife, Gail Liniger, and their family. Effective January 2015, The Wildlife Experience — an art and natural history museum — was donated to the University of Colorado. The generous gift of the building and property — valued at $40 million — is the largest real estate donation in the university’s 138-year history. The gift allowed CU to expand its south Denver presence that began when The Wildlife Experience and the university first collaborated by leasing space in April 2014. The gift of the entire building and operations allows for more services, more convenience and more value to be delivered to south Denver residents, employers and area professionals. CU added space at the Liniger Building for the fall 2014 semester — a second-floor gallery area was converted into two 48-seat classrooms, a 32-seat computer lab as well as a faculty and student resource center. There is also a student lounge. The lower level was converted into a state-of-the-art nursing simulation lab. Additional renovations were completed in August 2015, which included more classrooms, plus faculty offices and student study rooms. Overall, CU renovated 32,000 square feet of the 151,000-square-foot facility. The first CU South Denver classes were offered in August 2014. Classes are offered for degree-seeking and continuing education students and include popular interest areas such as nursing, engineering, education and business. All four CU campuses — CU Anschutz Medical Campus, CU Boulder, CU Colorado Springs and CU Denver — collaborate in the success of the CU South Denver expansion. The museum operates as part of CU South Denver at the same location starting January 2015. Serving as a cultural center and community asset, The Wildlife Experience includes an art and natural history museum, a large-screen movie theater and a host of community and K-12 museum education programs. Special and seasonal events and activities for children and adults are held throughout the year. Catered event space for business, weddings and the community are available for rent.
