Had my first-time axe throwing at Primal Axe House, and it was a great experience from beginning to end. Online reservations, confirmation, reminders, and feedback emails worked very well, and the in-person check-in and quick introduction by a staff member was very smooth.
The facility is tucked away in the Riverpoint shopping area, but the interior was spacious and clean, and all staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
They have a variety of drinks and a limited food menu, but the focus is really the axe throwing (with options for knives). With the short safety and throwing instructions, we all were throwing and sticking our axes on the board. Instructors helped with a variety of games we could play and were available to provide advice on technique throughout our 60-minute session.
Overall, this was an awesome experience from beginning to end, and we all would be returning for another visit.
Tips for your visit: Make reservations in case the place is busy and be on time to make sure you get all your time. First timers - go early before your reservation, you can sit in the bar area and watch others to get feel of the axe throwing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 704941740Apr 7, 2023
Came here for a fun work event. This place is awesome and so were the two people who took care of us. Bar tender mixed excellent drinks and made my incredible peach mule. We also had food here too and the food was decent. The axe throwing was awesomeness and so fun. We all had an awesome time here playing so many game variations of axe throwing. Thanks for a good time. Definitely will be a place I'd come back to.

My friends took me here as a surprise and I was a mix of terrified and excited. Fortunately, the fear wore off pretty quickly. Once you get the hang of it, you can have control of your axe more than I anticipated.
They bring you back into the main space and they have a small bar with some food options available. We opted for the charcuterie board. It was really good with good quality meats but it's the only real appetizer option. Everything else is like sandwiches and not really shareable.
After a brief safety demo, we spent quite a bit of time throwing and after about 45 minutes, an employee showed us how to play "cricket". It was a fun and engaging game, but I wish we had started a little earlier.
My only complaint is one employee said that they didn't have a reservation after us and we could hang out a little longer, while another was rushing to get us out. Obviously, we are only entitled to the time we had reserved but I do think they should clarify with staff expectations.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - H. A.Denver, CO01961Jan 17, 2023
The staff at Primal Axe House are all really warm, friendly and inviting! We went as a company function and had Justin helping us; somehow one person managed to corral all of us, teach us how to throw (I think only one or two people in our large group had thrown axes before), kept score of the games and engaged with all of us!
The sandwiches all looked really good! They're pre-made and then reheated on the panini press behind the bar; they appear to be large enough to share. We had a catered taco dinner and it was good.
The bar was kind of a letdown. There were 2 bartenders and one was much better than the other, but none of us cared for the drinks. Honestly though, it was totally fine because the part we came for was a lot of fun and I'd definitely be back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mom M.Denver, CO07310Dec 21, 2023
This place is so much fun for work parties and groups! The staff is so accommodating and friendly. The training and games they run are a good time for all. The bar has delicious local drinks and foods. We have been there twice for large holiday parties and every person has a blast! We will be back!

Love the customer service, love the conversation, loved the excitement in their voices when teaching us and our kids.. We have been axe throwing before and was not as good of an experience.. The kids loved it and so did we.. The owner was very personable and talked to us for probably 20-30 min. We will definitely be returning to this location when we return to Colorado from Nebraska..
Thank you to everyone we had the pleasure of meeting tonight it was a blast..Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Tanya C.Denver, CO139102104Feb 14, 2022
If you have a birthday party, or group event to host, consider having it here! This place made my husband's 40th birthday party a blast. From initial contact on the phone, to speaking with front-of-the-house staff, to our coach Tobias, this place is top notch. Tobias helped tether balloons and set up decorations, and when our team maxed out our reservation time, he moved us into a banquet area with tables where we could sit and continue the party. They didn't have to do that, but they did.
With the big south-facing windows you don't feel restricted or captive to the space. This is our third axe place we've been to, and with the adult beverages, naturally lite ambiance, and staff attentiveness, this is our new fav. Forget the others. We will be back to Primal Axe House!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mikayla G.Aurora, CO02Feb 19, 2023

It was so fun. We went to a birthday party there, it was our first time doing this and I want to go back! It will take more practice, was not as easy as it looked. The place was great with the half panels of beautiful beatle kill wood paneling. It's a great place to host an event. I can't say thank you enough to the partners and employees; Kelly, Sara, Sara, Chelsea, Mike & John.
I WOULD RECOMMEND and we will go back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kylanne H.CO, CO01Aug 25, 2023
The purple haired woman absolutely ruined our experience here. she was so incredibly rude and inconvenienced by us checking in and being there. We have never been here and had such bad service. the other employees were great and offered a great experience but she was so unbelievably rude. If you're miserable being there, leave! the group next to us made the same comments about her. really unfortunate.
